TUBAL FACTOR

let's call you

    What is Tubal Factor?

Tubal Factor: The infertility caused by the obstruction or dysfunction of the fallopian tubes coming out from both sides of the uterus and connecting the uterus and ovaries in women is called tubal factor. Tubal factor (clogged tubes) is among the causes of female infertility.

    Causes of Clogged Tubes?

Each month, the egg (oocyte) that comes out of the right or left ovary passes through the fallopian tubes and reaches the uterus. Infertility due to women occurs because the tubes are blocked or cannot do their job.

    • Infections (Pelvic infections, sexually transmitted infections, spiral use)
    • Past surgical operations (Pelvis, abdomen or appendicitis)
    • Chocolate Cyst (endometriosis) etc. conditions cause infertility in women due to tubal factor.

What Are the Symptoms of Tube Occlusion?

In order for a woman to have children naturally, the tubes must be open. Intra-abdominal infections or chronic pelvic pain may indicate that the tubes may be blocked. However, a definitive diagnosis can be made with the uterine film HSG (hysterosalpingography). HSG uterine film is the image obtained by taking X-ray at the same time with the contrast agent (liquid) given from the cervix. With this x-ray film, it gives information about the walls of the uterus, the structure of the tubes and their permeability.

The other diagnostic method of Tubal Factor is laparoscopy. It can be checked whether the tubes are open by entering the abdomen with a camera. In laparoscopy, it can be diagnosed by seeing whether there is fluid passage through the tubes, the adhesion of the tubes, and endometriosis (chocolate cyst).

Can a Woman with Blocked Tubes Get Pregnant? Tube Obstruction Treatment ?

The reason for in vitro fertilization in the first IVF in 1978 was tubal factor, that is, the condition of the tubes being clogged. A woman with closed tubes underwent IVF and became pregnant. It is not possible for patients whose tubes are closed or damaged to become pregnant by any other method other than in vitro fertilization. Therefore, evaluation of the tubes is very important in infertile patients.

Hydrosalpenx is the condition in which the tubes are clogged due to the filling of the tubes with liquid. Hydrosalpinx is an important factor affecting IVF success. One of the causes of infertility and inability to get pregnant is hydrosalpinx. For this reason, it may be necessary to disconnect the tube from the uterus before starting IVF treatment in patients with blocked tubes. Tubes are removed by laparoscopy.
